Financial Support Program for Cancer, Kidney and Liver Cirrhosis Patients
Cancer, kidney, liver cirrhosis, stroke paralyzed, birth-cardiac and thalassemia patients financial support program has been started from 2013-14 fiscal year. At present, patients with Cancer, Kidney, Liver Cirrhosis, Stroke Paralyzed, Congenital Heart Disease and Thalassemia are being provided medical assistance at a one-time budget of Rs. 50,000 / - (fifty thousand). Applicants interested in receiving financial assistance should fill up the application form in the prescribed form, attach a copy of the relevant documents in due process and submit the completed application to the concerned Upazila Social Service Office / City Social Service Office.
 
Criteria for selection of candidates:
A) the candidate must be a permanent citizen of Bangladesh;
B) Priority should be given to the person most distressed and suffering from the mentioned disease;
C) those who are landless or have less than 0.50 acres of land will be entitled;
D) Children, the destitute, refugees and the landless should be given priority;
E) Elderly, widowed, divorced, widowed, childless, separated from family should be given priority.
 
Eligibility and conditions for receiving financial assistance:
Patients suffering from Cancer, Kidney, Liver Cirrhosis, Stroke Palliative, Congenital Heart Disease and Thalassemia should apply in the prescribed form by attaching the following documents along with the prescription and test report of the specialist in the respective disease (application form should be collected from the website of the Department of Social Services). At the district level the District Civil Surgeon will be able to identify the patient.
A) In case of cancer, there should be Histopathology / Cytopathology or Sister Marrow report or other test report.
B) In case of kidney disease, patients undergoing dialysis services for acute renal failure or chronic renal failure, preparing for kidney transplantation or kidney transplantation should be considered. Urea and creatine levels in the blood should be reported.
C) In case of liver cirrhosis, liver ultrasonogram report and other test reports should be available.
D) A patient suffering from paralysis in stroke should be certified by a neurologist and it is better to have MRI / CT Scan Report.
E) In case of congenital heart disease, Echo Cardiogram report and other test reports should be available.
F) Hemoglobin electrophoresis or other applicable test report should be in case of thalassemia.
G) Must have National Identity Card / Birth Certificate (Photocopy attested by Gazetted Officer).
H) The applicant cannot apply more than once in one financial year. In the application, it has to be mentioned whether the money for treatment has already been received from the Department / Ministry of Social Services.
